Summer in the City’s Project Paint has made an indelible impact on Detroit – it’s hard to go anywhere in the city without stumbling upon an SITC mural. We team up with all variety of community partners – nonprofits, schools, businesses and city agencies – to paint bright, durable murals in every corner of Detroit. Last summer alone, we painted 75 murals: some create bright backdrops for parks and playgrounds, while others highlight the unique offering of a commercial corridors and historic neighborhoods.

Every mural is designed to incorporate community input and allow volunteers to produce an enduring, professional quality piece of public art. The murals have proven effective at deterring graffiti Summer in the City and illegal dumping. Summer in the City provides all the paint and supplies in order to have the maximum positive impact on the communities we serve. Look out for our first murals downtown and on Belle Isle this year!
